How we work

Most projects begin with a short, no-obligation conversation. Tell us a little about what you are trying to build, what is already in place, and any deadlines or constraints we should know about. We will reply with our initial thoughts, suggest a discovery call where useful, and outline whether your project is a good fit for our specialisms before any commercial discussion.

We work as a single, senior, UK-based team — there is no offshoring or outsourcing. Engagements typically start with a paid discovery phase to define scope, risk and delivery approach, followed by an agile build with regular demos and short feedback loops.

Response time

We aim to respond to every enquiry within one UK working day (Monday–Friday, 09:00–17:30 GMT/BST). Urgent support requests from existing clients should be sent to support@mckennaconsultants.com.

We focus on a small number of deep specialisms rather than offering generalist development. If your enquiry touches any of the areas below, we will almost certainly be able to help directly:

A few questions we are commonly asked. If your question is not covered, send it through the form and we will come back to you.

What information should I include in my enquiry?

The more context the better, but we do not expect a full specification. A short description of the problem you are solving, the platforms or technologies already in play (for example: existing SaaS application, document store, ERP), any relevant deadlines, and whether you have an internal sponsor or budget envelope in mind. We will follow up with the specific questions we need answered.

Who will respond and how quickly?

Enquiries are reviewed personally by one of our senior consultants — usually within one UK working day. You will not be handed to a sales development representative or a chatbot. If we are not the right fit, we will tell you honestly and, where we can, suggest someone better suited to the work.

Do you sign NDAs?

Yes. We are happy to sign a mutual non-disclosure agreement before any detailed technical discussion. We can use your standard NDA or supply a short one of our own. We work with regulated clients in healthcare, financial services and government and are familiar with the constraints those sectors bring.

Where are you based and do you travel?

We are based at the Innovation Centre on Hornbeam Park, Harrogate, North Yorkshire. The team works in a hybrid model and most of our delivery is remote, but we travel to client sites across the UK and internationally for kick-off workshops, design sprints and key project milestones. We collaborate via Teams, Slack and Zoom day to day.

Do you take on small projects or only large engagements?

Both. Some of our most successful relationships started with a short paid discovery or a focused two-to-four week engagement to de-risk a specific technical question — for example, a WOPI proof of concept, an Office Add-In spike, or an AI agent feasibility study. From there, projects often grow into longer multi-phase builds.
