UK-based software development partner for complex problems

For twenty-two years we have built custom software for companies with a hard problem to solve, usually one where separate systems need to work together and the information people need is stuck somewhere they cannot get to it.

Our main areas of work:

The problems we get called in to solve

Most of our work starts in the same place. A company has systems that were bought at different times, from different suppliers, for different reasons. Each one does its own job well enough. None of them talk to each other. The information someone needs is sitting inside one of them, and there is no sensible way to get it out.

That is the kind of problem we are good at. Old databases, ERP and CRM systems, warehouse and ordering systems, document stores, and the spreadsheet that quietly became business critical. We join them up, and we build the software that sits on top of them.

  • Connecting systems from different suppliers, old and new
  • Getting at data that was never meant to leave the system holding it
  • Building on top of what you already have, rather than replacing it
  • Picking up projects that have stalled or been put in the too-hard pile

Connecting systems is the thread running through most of what we do. It has also taken us deep into four specialisms: Microsoft Office Add-Ins, SharePoint Embedded, B2B eCommerce and AI. Each one is about getting software people already use to do something it was not built to do.

Working alongside your own team

A lot of our work is not us building something instead of your team. It is us working as part of it.

Clients come to us for this for one of two reasons, and often both:

  • We have expertise they want in the building — a specialism their own developers have not worked with before.
  • They need capacity now, and hiring would take months.

We embed in your team, or work remotely alongside it, whichever suits you. You keep control of the product and the day-to-day decisions. And because your developers are working next to ours throughout, the knowledge stays with you: when we finish, your team understands what was built and can carry it on without us.

It works in short bursts too. Clients who have taken a product back in-house come back to us when they hit a peak, and we redeploy for a few weeks rather than them taking on temporary staff.

The people you work with are our own permanent team. We do not subcontract, so the developers who start with you are the ones who finish.

We have worked this way with clients including AuditBoard, AuditFile and Astrak.

How team augmentation works

Systems Integration

Most companies run a collection of best-of-breed systems that were bought separately and were never designed to work together. We build the software that connects them: the interfaces between the applications, the data moving between them in real time rather than overnight, and one reliable view of what is actually happening in the business. We work with ERP, CRM, warehousing, ordering and document systems, including older ones that were never built to share what they hold.

Microsoft Office Add-In Development

We build Microsoft Office Add-Ins, front end and back end. We have built Outlook add-ins, and the Microsoft Graph back ends behind them, for CRM and work management systems. We have built Excel add-ins for the auditing and compliance industries, and Word add-ins for legal SaaS companies and others. We also publish code samples to help other developers get started.

B2B eCommerce

We build large B2B web stores, and we build them in parts so they fit around the systems you already run. That usually means connecting your ERP, CRM, CPQ, PIM, document store, warehousing, inventory and ordering systems so the store works as one thing. We are used to older and more awkward systems as well as modern platforms such as Elastic Path. The aim is the same either way: fast, stable and secure, so the store can grow without being rebuilt.

SharePoint Embedded

SharePoint Embedded is Microsoft's modern, API-only replacement for the Cloud Storage Partner Program. It lets you put Microsoft 365 document editing inside your own SaaS application. SaaS vendors are our main clients for this. There is no Cloud Storage Partner Program membership to apply for and no WOPI host to build. Your customers' documents stay in their own Microsoft 365 tenant, Microsoft Purview compliance applies to them as normal, and your SaaS becomes a first-class knowledge source for Microsoft 365 Copilot. We are building SharePoint Embedded into new SaaS products today, and we run packaged migrations for SaaS vendors who already have a WOPI host.
